Infertility

::Waves:: E2 Question

Hey Ladies-  I usually post on TTTC, but felt like I might find more helpful answers here.

So, this is my second IVF attempt.  I'm responding too quickly.  Yesterday at my stim day 4 monitoring, I had a TON of follicles (like at least 9 on each side), some getting pretty ripe already, and my E2 was at 541.  Today (no stim last night), E2 was still over 700.  Today is only day 5 of stim.

What do you think the liklihood is that RE is going to cancel my cycle at this rate?  Dr. Google is not being kind.

It really depends.  I usually go in for my first E2 check on CD6 or 7 and my E2 has always been over 1,000 at that time.  But that is with only a few follies and I am ready to trigger pretty soon thereafter.  If they are coasting you now, your E2 should slow down a bit.  As long as a good number of follies mature without your E2 going through the roof, you should be fine.  How big were your largest follies?  Does it look they will be mature in a day or two?  Are they growing while you are coasting?

Good luck, hon!  There are a few things REs can do to help keep you from getting OHSS (I know my RE uses a medication and has some dietary restrictions).

    Thanks, lovely lady.

I feel like such a basketcase this time around.  I'm trying to keep my panic under control, but some of it is seeping out.

    How are you doing?

STL, you're always such a fountain of awesome information.  Thank you.

My 2 biggest were a bit over 9 (but my RE uses different measurements, so that's like a 12 or 13 to most RE's).

RE didn't do ultrasound today and won't do it tomorrow.  Just blood monitoring.

It sounds like those two are going pretty good for being mature in a few days unless coasting causes them to slow down.  I hope your E2 slows down a bit but your follies keep growing (and your two leads don't get too far ahead).  This could still be a good cycle for you.  Sending positive vibes your way, hon!  Good luck!

  • sorry you are so stressed, but if it makes you feel better I think my E2 was 540 day 4, 1400 day 6 and then 5080 day8, they triggered me with Lupron instead of HCG to prevent OHSS  (which they were successful at doing) and retrieved 29 eggs/26 mature. We froze 19 good embies and are doing a FET in May. Best of luck to you!
  • Are you on something to prevent premature ovulation? I had a big boost between my stim day 5 check and my stim day 8 check- they changed my dosage so the boost wasn't a surprise but I went from 8 measurable to 18 with three over 10mm making a break for it (E2 at 500). The RE put me on ganirelix last night to prevent ovulation and is going to let my big three overcook so we can get the 10+ that are in a pack between 8mm and 9.8mm. There's been no talk of a cancel in my case but they are suggesting that I'll probably go long.

Maybe something like ganirelix is an option to let the bulk of them mature properly? I'm certainly no expert, but I'll keep you in my thoughts (and I remember you from back when I was on 3TC before we took our long break!)

((hugs)) I can't even imagine the pressure. I'm doing ok. We found out last week that our final IUI didn't work, and had our IVF consult last week. We're still not sure we're ready to go for it though.

Hey Lady!  Thanks for the thoughts.

I have another bloodcheck today, so if E2 isn't slowing down, maybe they'll put me on something like that.  RE decresed my Lupron dosage from 20 to 10 units, so I think that's supposed to speed growth up then (because it will no longer be suppressed, right?)

    GL to you, ecleptic!

That makes me feel a lot better!!  I have an ultimate goal of growing enough quality embies so some make it to freezing.

Thanks for the good story!  GL to you!
