high heart rate....?

I had my 39 week appointment today and babies heart was 170bpm which is higher than it has ever been (highest to this point was 160bpm) So I asked the doc if that was normal and he said it was ok... have any of you had this. Normal rate for babies in fetus is usually 120-160bpm??? Am I just being paranoid??

170 is ok. Last tome I went to L&d to be monitored for prolonged hr's of 180+ on non stress tests.

two times ago, the babe's heart rate was 140 this last time it was 163. the ultrasound tech said that it was totally normal when the babe is being active or moving around for the heart rate to increase a bunch- maybe your lo was moving?

It is perfectly normal

My oldest sons bmp was always in the 170's! Never was any lower

I had the same thing and asked the doc - "baseline" hb can be anywhere between 110 and 160, with accelerations higher than 160 during activity. Totally normal!

At one appt baby's hb was at about 200! The Dr just listened a little longer than normal till it started slowing down and said that it's actually a good sign to hear the hb fluctuating, that the baby must've gotten himself worked up
