XP: How to get breech baby to move?

I had my 3D u/s two days ago and we didn't get very good pictures b/c our fella is breech and facing backwards. We did get a few shots of his face, but they invited me back in two weeks to try again. Is there anything I can do in the meantime to help him go head-down???

After 27 months, 5 IUI's, 3 m/c's, 2 IVF's, 2 FET's (and a partridge in a pear tree) we finally had our baby boy. Our first son was born on Jan. 1, 2009.

Did another round of IVF and our girl/boy twins were born May 12, 2011

  • The only way I've heard of looks pretty painful and should only be attempted by a doctor.  I don't know much about it, but a friend of mine is facing the decision of whether or not to do it and they're leaning towards no because of the risks.  Hopefully some others will have some better options for you!

  • my son was breech and the nurse who taught our birthing class told me to try doing inversions.  i would lay my ironing board against the seat of the couch, have my husband help me get on it, and lay on it with my head facing the floor for about 10 minutes at a time several times a day.  my son did end up turning around 30 weeks, but in the end it didn't matter b/c i needed a section due to pre-e.  good luck getting your little one to move!

  • In my prenatal yoga class the instructor mentioned that one of the poses was good at helping breech babies to turn.  Lie on your back, put your butt up against a wall with your legs sticking straight up, against the wall.  Put a cushion under one hip so they are uneven.  Stay in that position for a few minutes at a time...I'm not sure how often to do it, but probably as often as you can.

  • Hello.  I do not know if you remember me but about a year ago, we talked because you were going to donate meds to me.  I live in your old home town.  I just wanted to say congratulations.  I am so happy for you and your husband.

We had a baby girl 11 weeks ago.  She was breech and they could not attempt to turn her due to the position of the placenta.  We had a c-section and I just wanted you to know if you have to, it was not anywhere near as bad as  I made it out to be beforehand.  I cried all the way to the OR and in 10 minutes I was holding my miracle.  Not a labor pain!  Very easy recovery.  Totally forget they are performing surgery the minute you hear the baby cry.

     My best wishes for you!
