2nd Trimester

no movement yet

Im 20 weeks 2 days, I haven't felt LO move at all yet. Im starting to get concerned. I was not over weight before pregnancy and have gained 9 pounds so Im not sure why I havent felt anything yet. I've read that some have felt the baby as early as 16 weeks...? Let me know if this is normal and if anyone else is experiencing this.

Re: no movement yet

  • My SIL never felt her kids until after 20 weeks - I think she had either a tilted uterus and/or an anterior placenta and that made it harder to feel.  I wouldn't worry, you probably have and just don't know it yet!

  • I think everyone is different. I am a naturally heavier person and I felt the first kick at 19 weeks and within the past few days I am feeling kicks and movement. Everyone says it feels like gas, but to me it feels like someone lightly just poking me. Be patient! It will happen!

  • Yeah, I'm almost 20 weeks and haven't felt anything definitive yet. I've felt little things but I think I'm trying so hard that I think any little thing might be a kick. I'm jealous of everyone who at like 18 weeks can feel kicks from the outside!

  • Is your placenta on the outside? That can "muffle" the feeling of movement.

  • You are just reading the few ppl that have felt their LO's early... All the ppl who haven't yet, don't post : ) Which is the majority... So no worries!!
Typically flutters are felt 16-18 weeks and kicks not until 22-24. Weight doesn't always matter... I am average weight and I felt DS right on the "typical timeline"

  • I am 17 weeks and havn't felt anything yet either.  I am starting to feel bad about myself thinking I'm not observant enought, but I have been glued to my stomach since week 14 waiting for the smallest movement.  Nothing, no so much as a gas rumble I can hope to pass off as movement, lol.  LO just keeps me waiting.  I guess this way I will have something exciting to look forward to hopefully soon :)

  • When I was at 20 wks, I was getting a little concerned too but my Dr. said not to worry, and that it should start in the next couple of weeks. I had also felt a lot of what I thought was gas and at 3 times thought maybe I had felt a poke. It wasn't until 21 weeks when I felt what I knew for sure was a kick, then two, then three. Even then it was off and on, one day I would feel him, the next nothing. All of which is pretty normal according to my doc. Now at 25 weeks I feel the little guy usually every day, multiple times a day (though there are still days in which he is more active than others)
