Preemies

FINALLY moving forward!

Although Tyler had been doing well and growing... I felt like we were at a stand-still for his development. He wasn't really changing but he was fine. Finally, yesterday was a big day and I am so happy! :)

He was moved from his isolette to an open air crib! They took him off of his caffeine! He had gone 6 days without a spell! He reached 4 1/2 lbs (from 2lbs 2oz at birth... and 2lbs at a day old)! And he took 8cc's from a bottle! Then again today, he took 5cc's from a bottle! Yay for progress!!!

A question for everyone-- he is 6w 3d actual (35 weeks gestational) and he seems to be really uncomfortable around his eatings. He gets moan-y and groan-y and pretty gassy. They started giving him prune juice before his feeds and putting him on his belly with some pressure. It helps, but he's still fussy during and after feeds. Did this happen to anyone else? Any tricks of the trade? Thoughts?

 TIA!

Re: FINALLY moving forward!

  • I don't have any advice about the gassiness but I wanted to say congrats on the open crib and the eating! Go Tyler!

  • Yay for the newbed. Not sure about the feed situatio but I know preemies are prone to feed/digestive issues especially reflux.  Hope the eating gets "smoother" for him.
