"Didn't you just have a baby?" or "Wow you are pregnant again?" Our babies will be two years apart, I don't get the fuss. How do you ladies with babies somewhat close together handles these comments?
I havent told anyone yet Only one co-worker knows..Her first response was "Oh no!" then she asked me again recently if I was..Once again I didnt say yes but I didnt say no.. so she was all "Aww your little lady is going to-" but I shut her up since I didnt want anyone to know yet..I did feel compelled to tell her it was on purpose. She said it was "great!"
I do not have any children yet but I had to comment. I am surprised that they say that?!!!!!!! What the heck is wrong with having a baby two years later?!!!!! I actually will try and have mine back to back... I cant wait to hear the comments then I would tell them yeah! isnt it just crazy?!!! 2 years later we're having another? Gosh what were we thinking with a giant smile and sarcasm to go with it
I just tell them, "I was BF'ing, I thought that was supposed to keep me from getting KU'd again..."
Some of them actually believe me.
One lady in playgroup last week (had just met her about 1 hour earlier) found out I was pregnant, so she looked at my 14 month old son, and then looked at me and asked, "Was this planned?"
My hubby's Aunt was the frist person to ask me something like this. I told her, "Well, there isn't much else to do in the North."
With everyone else that's said anything about it, I told them I ate sushi again (I started getting morning sickness following immediately after eating sushi with my first, so it's been a joke amongst everyone that knows me that I was impregnanted by sushi).

I just tell them that I would rather have my hands full than empty. And leave it at that. People can be so rude sometimes.
I like that.
Jess & Adam, married 2009, precious Audrey born in 2011. BFP 1/6/13, 6-wk MMC discovered at 9 wks 2/11/13. D&C 2/18/13, second D&C 4/23/13 for retained placenta. BFP 8/24/13!! EDD 5/1/14, delivered healthy and sweet Zoey Leanne on 5/5/14 by repeat c-section.
I had a lot of people ask me if this was planned, probably because DD2 was only 13 months when I found out and because its my third. It wasn't planned, really. We were planning on a third in another year or two. I was on the pill and I have PCOS, so I NEVER thought I'd ovulate on the pill when I can't even ovulate when I'm off it! Regardless, its not really anyone's business and I was speechless that first few times people asked me. I said a couple times "Well, the first two are so cute, we just figured we'd keep popping them out!".
You could hit them with a " I believe in as many wonderful children as god allows... and start a new reality show like 19 kids and counting. And finish them off with an " I love being pregnant "
People love commenting to pregnant women...it's pretty annoying. My standard response has been, " See what happens when you like your husband too much". People usually just laugh and some become a little uncomfortable....serves them right for saying something stupid in the first place.
I've been lucky enough to not have any of these comments yet. When we told my MIL she said "Awwww, and so close together." But she seemed to think it was nice. I don't see two years as being that close together though. I guess I wouldn't be surprised to hear it if they were going to be Irish twins or something, but isn't two years apart pretty normal. What is wrong with people?
I don't have a good comeback... but what's wrong with having babies 2 years apart??? Mine will be 2 years apart and I think it's just the perfect timing. I haven't gotten this from anyone... yet.
I think the nicer you keep it, the more they will feel like an a$$hole for even asking, honestly. I would just say that we wanted them to feel a close relationship with their siblings, unlike some people you know who are further apart and don't have that. Hopefully they are further apart with their siblings so it can be the silent but sweet dig that gets the point across.

This is along the lines of what I said when I was pregnant with my second. They were 16mos apart and ppl thought I was nuts and that it wasn't planned (but it was!)
People are asking if this baby was planned or imply he/she wasn't! We wanted a bigger family. Do I have to go into it?

So I'll be taking notes from other responses

OY!
Instead of coming up with a 'rude' or 'snarky' comeback, what if you said laughingly "I keep drinking the water."
