MFI Weekly Check In
This group is for those of us dealing with male factor issues. We
welcome everyone but mostly we are dealing with low count, motility, morphology or all three. Male infertility is a mysterious world filled with questions no one, including REs, urologists, acupuncturists or anyone else seem to have the answers to. Any treatment suggested is a coin toss for success and a 3 month wait for a fresh batch of swimmers. Most of us are told the only answer is IUI or IVF w/ICSI. The purpose of this group is to support each other through shared experiences and to share any info we can because the more informed we are the better. We have a check in every Sunday night/ Monday morning but I will try to post a link later in the afternoon/evening also. Welcome and baby dust to all!

I start synarel (EP) on April 7th and should starts stims for IVF 2 in mid-April.
QOTW: I love to make pies and for some reason am only inspired to make them during warmer months. So with spring, comes the smell of pie crust and berries in my house!
Update: Started BCP's for IVF #2 this past Friday. Tenative ER set for 5/4.
QOTW: There is not one specific spring/summer recipe.. but ANYTHING on the grill!!!!!
Update: I'll be starting Lupron for IVF 2 on April 11th. Hoping this is my lucky cycle!
QOTW: I'm not much of a cook, but now that it's getting warmer I love a good frozen yogurt treat!

1/1010 FINALLY decided to have testing done, dx MFI
7/2010 - DH starts Clomid to increase testosterone and hopefully sperm count
10/2010 - Still low (but improved) sperm count.
11/30/10 - IUI #1 and only = BFN
February 2011 - IVF #1 w/ ICSI =
Chemical PG (Beta 1: 10, Beta 2: 19, Beta 3: 17) :-(
April 2011 - IVF #2 w/ ICSI = BFN :-(
September 2011 - IVF #3 w/ ICSI = BFFN
November 2011 - AMH level tested - .83 (normal for age range)
February 2012 - IVF #4 w/ ICSI = (best response ever yet still) BFFN
April 2012 - DNA testing - NORMAL, RE suggests cycling again with own eggs or using DE
On Break indefinitely...not sure we can afford the emotional and financial roller coaster anymore.

Update: Saw my RE for the first time today since we learned of our miscarriage. It looks like the worst of it may be over, but I will have to wait for 2 periods before we start trying again.

On a break cycle. dIUI didn't work and I have 5 follicular cysts
Hoping that its just a fluke that the first one didn't work and this next time is it. Also, I only ordered one vial of DS (trying to be optimistic, yeah, that didn't work so well) because they said there was a good amount available if it didn't work. Well, guess what, its all gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ugh, so now we have to pick another donor...
Anyway. Only 14 more days and AF should be here (thank you Dr for taking pity on me and starting me on progesterone on CD 10) and hopefully it will work out!
QOTW: I can't wait until it is warm enough here to grill! I miss steaks and yummy chicken on the grill... And visiting with the neighbors. I feel so isolated in our deep freeze winters....

Update: Day 8 of stims IVF#1. It's looking like they were a little overcautious with the initial dosage- I went in Friday after and didn't have the response they were looking for, so they boosted me and today's check was much more encouraging- but the 10 pack of follicles is only at 8mm-10mm. If we're pushing those to 19 (as opposed to my 3 lead follies @11-13mm), we'll be stimming for a long while still. Ouch on the pocketbook- but I'd rather have 10 to get eggs from than 3. Not looking forward to another week of this though, I must admit. It'll be worth it, but I'm pretty much always feeling sick to my stomach/tired.
QOTW: homemade ice cream and burgers. Yum.

I'm just waiting for AF (probably late next week) and then I start stims for my first and hopefully only IVF.
QOTW: I love spring planting ... we plant a vegetable garden at the preschool (my business) and we get to enjoy the fruits of our labor. It's my fave thing about Spring!

Hubby has a new Urologist, he is on his meds (Clomid and Arimidex), I am starting with a new clinic so not much is going to happen for a couple of months since it will take a while for the meds to kick in.
In the meantime, we are still trying the old fashion way (wink, wink)
