We're using Dale Cook with Gaia Midwives - she's in Huntington, but I think they also have offices in Islip. I'm only 5wks along, but so far, she's been great (I had seen her a few times previously for gyn issues).
I currently go to Barbara Charles with Long Island Midwifery. She has two offices, one of which is in Huntington Station. I haven't used her for pregnancy, just as a gyno, but I love her. She is great and definitely not a medical midwife. She caught issues that 3 other doctors (2 obgyns and 1 gp) missed but is still using homeopathic remedies to fix them. I highly recommend her if that's the type of care you are looking for. She doesn't due home births but does do water births most of the time. I have to look up her number at home but have it if you need it.

I also see barbara charles in hungtington, shes great. Shes an old soul and has been around for many years but she seems to know her stuff and doesnt mess around...sends you for all the right tests but not more than you as an individual need (she treats each person as an individual). Shes super nice and takes her sweet time with you but I havent had long waits for her or anything. She answers all your questions and seems to always want to know about how my hubby is doing and likes to keep him involved. She is a one woman show but always and I mean always available by phone without dealing with an answering service, she gives you her personal cell phone. So far, 18 weeks into my pregnancy I am very happy with her.
Re: Looking for a Midwife in Suffolk
Hi,
How is your experience going with Dale cook? Im debating between a reg gyn and her.. thanks!
my friend used the midwives at Stony Brook for both her children and LOVED them.
Personally, I like to stay away from SB but she was very happy with them
