Taken off 2nd tri board: Howd you handle negative 2u2 comments?

Someone posted the same over there and I figured you'd ladies have best answers!

As in.. "Didnt you just have a baby?" etc.. No one knows I'm pregnant yet and I'm really kind of afraid to tell anyone..My family is VERY snarky and have already said it's too early for another and that I should have them too close (little do they know they think I have an IUD but I removed that 3 months after placement)..and I know strangers make remarks without thinking..

Just looking for something simple (not so much rude) but enough to get them to shut up.

    "you must have your hands full" --- "better than empty"

    "Didn't you just have a baby?" "yes"

    "Did you do that on purpose?" "yes"

    "Don't you know how hard that is going to be?"- "I can't predict the future, but I'm going to say I will do just fine thank you" or to be simple "do you?"

     People don't think before they speak, I find it best to just smile and nod and walk away.  If you want them to shut up you need to go with more of the snarky comments.

    Honestly, I didnt say much to negative comments while pregnant. A lot of it goes away when the 2nd baby is here. Now all I get is "wow, you have your hands full!" which I usually say "yes, and I love it!" or "better full than empty".

    I like mammabears answers. I say I like my hands full. When I go looks while pg I would smile back and say something like, can I help you? People would ask if I planned it and I would say YUP! I also get comments bc DH works offshore, so they think Im nuts for planning it this way, but we love it. 

    Now that they are here I still get some comments, but more of the wow you have your hands full. It was worse while pregnant with a toddler.

    and Mammabear....congrats! I didnt know you were pregnant!!

    I don't really consider "wow, you must be busy" or "have your hands full" to be negative....I consider it a compliment. As in - yes - we are surviving!!!

    I never heard anything negative but JUST the other day while I was buying stuff at Baby Gap the lady asked me how close my kids were (only DD was with me) and she said "OMG did you just CRY when you found out?? I would!!"

    I thought it was funny - but can't imagine ever saying that to someone!

    If someone asked me how I could be so stupid or something then yeah, I would have an issue...but those other comments are harmless. People are idiots and I know that going in :)
