Stopping Prometrium at 10wks?

My OB put me on prometrium at 5wks and just told me that she'll have me stop taking it at 10wks. I was a little surprised since I thought I'd take it atleast until I'm in my second trimester (or later). When did your OB's have you stop?

I'm having another U/S on friday so hopefully a healthy report will make it easier to trust my OB.

I was told 10 weeks as well, but right around the time I was supposed to stop I had some spotting so my doctor left me on it until my prescription ran out which I think was closed to 12/13 weeks.

I was on Endometrin and they had me stop at 10 weeks, although I had enough so I kept taking them till 10 weeks and 5 days.

I was prescribed Prometrium through 12 weeks. I don't think 10 weeks is abnormal though.

Being that my progesterone was low from the start at 4wks pregnant, she put me on prometrium (vaginally) since then. She wasn't specific on when I should stop all she said to me was I won't be on the entire first trimester. And yes, I've read on websites that you usually stay on for the first trimester....

I'm on prometrium until 16 weeks, but my progesterone plummeted at the beginning of the pregnancy and I've had two early miscarriages. I also have a thrombophilia mutation.

If you're taking prometrium as a "just to be on the safe side" measure, I don't think it's too weird that you'd stop at 10 weeks. The placenta is formed around then and it'll start taking over that job.

My dr. said 10 as well. I had enough pills for through 11 so i took them but that's whaqt he said as well.

My doctor told me the placenta takes over around 10 weeks, but had me take prometrium through 12 weeks just to be on the safe side. I actually had enough pills to go through 13 weeks.

Thanks everyone, that makes me feel better. I think I'll have enough to go past 10wks if I get nervous.

My RE has me on it until 10 weeks, because he said at that point the placenta takes over and maintains the progesterone levels (instead of the corpus luteum). So you should be fine!
