We started to PT at about 2 but never pushed her to do it. She had ZERO interest in it, though. It wasn't until she was just over 3 that she started to really want to try. Once she decided that she wanted to go potty, she was fully trained in less than 2 days.
They have been sitting on the potty @ school since about 18 months and we've had the potty at home for along time and she would sit on it a few times a day. We tried underpants a few months ago and she wet and pooped in them and really couldn't have cared less so we put them aside and went back to pull ups/diapers. Saturday she refused to put on the pull up, so I got the panties out again and told her to pick the panties or pull up - she picked panties. She's had one accident a day since Saturday, but she's always very upset about it so I take it as a good sign! She's even stayed dry for naps, but not overnight.
We've been training for a month or so. She's still getting the hang of it though. More with daycare though. They where all gung ho but now I notice she isn't going on the potty as much there.
I say when they show signs of wanting to learn go for it. Introduce the potty & go from there.
We're in the process of it now. She's completely PT'ed at home, and she'd probably be 100% PT'ed during the days by now if I wasn't so nervous to take her out in public without a diaper or pull-up of some kind. I really need to just make that leap because she's picked everything else up so fast, but it seems like there's always something that makes me think, "well maybe next time."
22 months...thanks to my nephew is 8 months older and PTing at the time. They are always together so my DD wanted to do exactly what he did and that was PT! It also helped that it was last summer, I was off from work and she wore dresses with nothing underneath while at home.
We tried a couple months after DS was 2. He wasn't ready. We waited 6 months and he was ready...for the most part. We still have our issues at 3.5 but he is completely pee trained now.
