Trying to Get Pregnant

OPK Question

According to FF these are my fertile days so yesterday I started testing with OPKs. I know to be positive your test line has to be as dark as or darker then the control line. My odd question is as you get closer to O can your test line be more prominent even if it's not yet positive? (sorry if that sounds confusing). Yesterday I couldn't see anything at all where my test line should be and today, although negative, I could faintly see a line. This is my first cycle off of BCP and I am just praying that everything will start working like it should ASAP.This is more of a curiosity question. Thanks! :)

Re: OPK Question

  • When I use OPKs, the lines always get progressively darker until I get my postive.  Good luck!

  • Mine "fade in" (get darker each day) as I get closer to O.  You might want to buy some Clearblue Easy digital OPKs to use when you think you have a + just to confirm.  It take the guess work out of determining exactly how dark the line is. Good luck!

  • Mine do not get progressively darker; some ladies do and some don't. You won't know your "pattern" until you have done it for a cycle or two. Also, don't be surprised if you don't ovulate when ff predicts; this is your first cycle off of bcp AND your first cycle charting. Hang in there and stick with the charting and opks; it will be worth it. Good luck!

Last month, I used the First Response One-Step Ovulation Predictor Kit and had to read the 2 lines to make sure one was darker. It was slightly confusing but I did see the line WAY darker than test line after all, just a few days later than I thought, I was on test 6 when I saw the darker line. So this month, I decided to use Clear Blue Easy Digitial Ovulation Tests, purchased at Amazon.com, they were cheaper than pharmacy and much easier, a smiley face means the LH surge was detected....good luck !

  • This is my first cycle off BCP's too.  I'm so confused about what's going on with my body!  I started using CVS brand OPK's though and the line has been different shades of faint the past few days.  I was told that's because there's always LH in your system, the OPK detects the surge and that's when you'd get a dark line.  So, needless to say, I have no idea if/when I'm ovulating.  I ordered CBE smiley ones so I can cut out some of the confusion!
