AA for SPICY foodies?

I am obsessed with everything spicy from Baja Fresh, Chipotle, Qdoba, Snyders buffalo pretzel pieces, buffalo chicken pizza, thai chili sauce, the doritos in the purple bag--sweet thai chili (or something), jalapenos, etc...it never agrees with my stomach..i don't get sick, but feel nauseous and like my inards are on fire...for some reason, my mind tells me i'll get over it and just keep eating the spice!  it's like a food demon!  when i watch man vs. food and adam is eating the ghost pepper burger or something, my mouth waters...what is wrong with me?

  • HAHAHA...I feel you.  I've been eating lots of hot stuff, but I saw the episode a few nights ago of man vs. food greatest moments and you couldn't pay me to eat a ghost pepper.

When I eat hot things lately I don't complain when they are hot I just sort of sit there waving my hand over my mouth and my husband yells at me every time to stop.  It's soooooo yummy though I can't stop :)

  • Totally with you on the spicy foods. And the sweets!! Not sweet foods though, just sweets :) Goes great after some spicy mexi chicken. Mmmm

  • This baby is keeping me FROM my spicy foods.  I'm normally ALL OVER the hotness.  He's got me whimpering with just straight jalepenos.

I am used to habaneros...  I really, really hope to get it back once he's born.  My FIL and I like to "challenge" each other to see who can eat spicier stuff.  I usually kick his butt!!

  • Haha...usually I steer away from the spicy foods, I mean MILD salsa is hot for me, but with this pregnancy I have been pushing the envelope for me...but that darn heartburn always comes back to haunt me!

  • I'm always craving the spicy!  And then I always get killer heartburn.  Sigh.

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE spicy foods. I'm dying for buffalo wings right now. I could eat so many lol.  I get jalape?os on all sorts of foods. I even add it to spaghetti sometimes. I love flaming hot cheetos, but I have to force myself to quit. When I was having gallbladder issues and they told me to watch spicy foods I about cried!

  • I finally got my taste back for spicy a few weeks ago.  I felt like a Midwesterner for a while as I couldn't handle any heat!  I was eating medium Pace salsa on my breakfast tacos, for crying out loud.  That stuff is like eating straight tomatoes, onions and peppers!

Bob's Jalapeno chips are the hottest jalapeno ones I've found (and the most consistent), but they're sometimes just not hot enough.  I don't consider buffalo anything or Tobasco to be hot in the least.  They do have a small bit of spice, but it's not hot spice.  Now, habaneros are hot.  We have a local taco place that puts habanero salsa on everything and it'll light you up!

If you want to really test out your heat handling ability, go to a good Indian restaurant and order Vindaloo as your sauce.  It usually only comes in hot and extra hot.  Vindaloo leftovers are great too.  The heat actually calms down a bit overnight and it's even more flavorful the next day.  Just as a warning though, what burns on the way in burns on the way out...
