2nd Trimester

movement question

Hi. I am 21 weeks now. I just had my 20 week u/s last week (having a baby girl!) and everything looks great. I was feeling movement about a week and a half ago and alittle before that, but I haven't felt much since. Is that pretty common? It felt like her kicking was getting stronger...and there for a while I would feel her move around 7:30-8:30 at night. Is it possible that she has just changed positions and that's why I am not feeling here as much now? when does the movement become more consistent? Like 24-26 weeks?

Re: movement question

  • it is possible she just changed positions, so where she is kicking, you just don't notice it as often. if you get nervous, have a glass of apple juice to wake her up. if you get concerned, you should call your doc office.

  • From what I've read it's very common at this point in the pregnancy to sometimes feel the baby a lot and sometimes not.

I'm assuming the farther along you are and the bigger your baby gets the more and more you'll feel her simply for the reason that there is no where else for baby to go :)

  • My doctor told me that she gets concerned when moms aren't feeling the baby daily at 24 weeks.  However, kick counts don't usually start until 28 weeks, so I think she just means that you feel the kid at least once per day at 24 weeks.  As your baby grows, you'll likely feel her more.  She just has to get big enough and strong enough for you to feel her and that takes time.

  • I was wondering the same thing last night!  I'm 26 weeks tomorrow and in the past week have been feeling my LO quite often throughout the day.  A couple nights ago my husband was talking to his mother on the phone and she was going on and on about how her niece was 33 weeks and hadn't felt the baby move in a few days.  So, she finally went to the doctor and of course we know this story isn't going to end well so I won't go into detail.  WHY my hubby felt the need to tell me this I'll never know.  So, of course all day yesterday I was trying to concentrate on feeling my lil punkin move and really didn't feel much all day.  I was so worried and didn't sleep a wink.  As I got out of bed this morning my sweet one was just kicking away.  The more you worry the more your mind will be on other things and you will miss when the baby actually KICKS.  I've also heard that the babies go through growth spurts and that during these times they may sleep more and are going to be less active.  Good luck to you and try to relax...worry = stress and that just won't work!

  • Did they figure out why the baby passed?  I know someone else who that happened to.  It freaks me out, but I'm curious as to what was wrong with the baby?
