Checking to see if leak is AF?

How do they test to see if a leak is in fact amniotic fluid? Sometimes I leak and have thought before that it was AF, but it dries on my underwear after a while.

    When I was in the hospital my AF started to leak and they used a little test strip to determine whether it was actually AF or something else.

    If you think you could be, you probably want to get it checked out.  I had a small leak and didn't think it was AF.  Turns out it was.  It was a sporadic leak and just enough to make my underwear wet.  By the time my little one was born it had been more than 48 hours since the leak started so I was loaded up on antibiotics.  I had three different tests to check for AF.  I think they were called pooling, ferning, and amnisure.  Your doctor should be able to perform one or all of them in the office.
