DH and I will be celebrating 8 years of knowing each other on Monday. Goofy yes, but its a tradition, we also got engaged on the same date.
So, this year we want to take Emily out to dinner with us but still go to a nicer place. I really wanted to go to Clementines but its closed on Mondays. DH is suggesting Woodberry Kitchen but I'd kind of like to try a new place.
Any suggestions? (Non-chain if you can, please, we're not big chain sit down restaurant go-ers.)
Oh and we live in the city.
EDIT: Has anyone been to the Friendly Farm Restaurant? Its in Upperco - far away but if its worth the drive....
Re: Restaurant Recs
RE: friendly farms. I live right near there. The food is very good. There is a pond with ducks (and sometimes geese) which is fun for kids when the weather is nice. The "gift shop" used to be very nice, but has gone down hill. Now it is pretty much candy and some craft items.
The inside of FF is dated, but don't let that deter you from going there. And, like PP said the food is served family style, which means all the sides come out in big bowls and the table shares. All the sides get refilled as much as you want. This is great for families where there are big eaters or you have a kid that only wants corn and french fried. LOL. The applebutter is very good, if you like that sort of thing. Also, the desserts are homemade and I have never had a bad one!
In my opinion this is more a place you go with a group then you would go for a date night.
Somewhere in the nest archives is a funny post with Rags and I discussing Friendly Farms...
