Alabama Babies

Hville Ladies

Who checked your LOs car seat when you installed it? I called the police dept in Athens and they checked it but the guys not certified. The fire depts in Athens had no clue what I was talking about. The only other place I know of is the hospital. I just wanted to get this checked off my list and didn't want to wait until I delivered.

Another question does your base to your car seat move when it's latched in? Ours is as tight as DH and policeman could get it and the front is still able to move around. Not sure but I didn't know how safe that would be.

TIA!!

Re: Hville Ladies

  • There is a place behind the hospital that did ours...we made an appointment about two weeks before delivery.  Also the nurse that discharged us checked it again before we loaded Aubrey up, although I don't think she was certified.

Ours moved a tiny bit...it was as tight as it would go.  I think the weight of the actual baby in the carrier helps it though, so when Bryant gets here it might not be as movable.

  • Thanks! It is heavier with the seat in there and doesn't move as much so I think you may be right. You know I'm just nervous about it!!

  • I don't know if this will help but we put ours in then went to the Alabama State Troopers sub-station just south of Decatur on Highway 31 where they checked it for us. Then installed it the way it should be according to safety standards by the State Troopers Association. They were a big help. Ours too had some slight movement when it was first installed by the Trooper. He said it will tighten when weight is applied. They placed the base of ours in the middle of the back seat saying it?s the safest place to be for your infant.

  • Yeah, HSV fire can't because they aren't certified.  They refer everyone to Madison Fire or Huntsville Hospital.
  • Thanks! I will go by there this week!!

  • Huntsville Hospital is certified but you have to make an appointment.
