This is my first month temping and using OPKs. I have done 2 rounds of Provera since going off BC in November so I have no idea how long my cycles are or anything. I took my first OPK on 3/25 (CD11) and got a very dark line but it wasn't as dark as the control. Since then the line has gotten lighter and lighter and today there wasn't one. Is this normal and does the strength of the line fluctuate throughout your cycle? I also had a major temp dip today so I thought for sure I would get a + OPK. At first I was testing right when I woke up but then read a post that said to test later in the day. Is that right? The link to my chart is

Re: 1st month temping and OPKs - Need help!
The darkness of the line will fluctuate. It will usually get gradually darker as you are about to O and then be as dark or darker than the control line indicating you will O within 24-36 hours.
Some tests are specific about when you use them. I use Wondfo OPKs in the morning and afternoon.
It's a really good idea to test twice a day--once in the morning (not FMU if you're testing with something like Wondfo, though it works fine for the CBEs) and once in the evening. Often, women will have a very short surge and you won't catch it if you only test once within a 24 hour period of time.
I don't use the strips, but it is odd that it started out dark and got lighter. However, since this is you first cycle, it's hard to know what is "normal" for you. I would just keep testing until you get a positive or AF arrives.
What cycle day was 3/11 for you? I usually ovulate early, so I start testing just a couple of days after my period--usually CD 9 or 10.

I see, and I just noticed that you added the link to your chart. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like you've ovulated yet (based on your temps). Sometimes your body will start ramping up to ovulation, and release the LH but not quite get there. Keep testing, and hopefully those lines will start darkening up a bit!
I use the Clearblue Easy digitals (with the smiley face) and I love them. They take the guess work out of comparing lines, but when you eject the test strip, you can still see the lines to check whether the test line is light or getting darker. And FMU is fine with them, though I'd still recommend testing twice a day to catch that surge.
