AW: DS's first solids!

Hehehe I am so sneaky, you think I am a horrible mom giving my 5 weeker solids!

But,  in truth he did accidently try his first solids today! I was BFing while eating a muffin and I look down because I hear Sully making smacking noises and it feels strange. What do I see? My boob, covered in muffin crumbs and DS smacking his lips on a crumb looking perplexed. It was kind of adorable. Of course I said "Oh crap!" apologized and swept his mouth, but afterward I had a chuckle.

Rice cereal as first food? Not my kid, he wanted chocolate chip muffins!

  • Shucks, my baby is waaaay ahead of yours. She got her first tiny taste of orange sherbert a week ago. When that look of 'What IS this?' morphs into 'This is DELICIOUS' it's hilarious! She also had a tiny, teensy-weensy taste of Nutella. Any other confessions while we're at it?

  • Last week his Grandpa gave him some garlic butter from his garlic bread. Gee thanks Dad! He just kept licking his lips like, "Hey this tastes AMAZING!" He is for sure my son.
  • I don't think any has gotten into his mouth but my poor DS gets spilled on all the time while I'm eating because he has to be held all the time so I'm forced to eat over him. He's had waffles, salad, granola, and I'm sure tons of other food spilled on him, although the funniest was when my MIL was eating a peanut butter cup over him and he ended up wearing it and smelling like it (not terrible thing to smell like- although it confused the dogs!) for a while after!

  • lol no solids for MJ yet but I did apologize to him that he didn't get his "taste of corn beef" when I had to stop nursing due to the meds I needed to take for the kidney stones. somehow I think morphine/percocet/dilauded (sp?) and toradol are not good pain meds to give to a LO..

  • I was eating some Chobani yogurt yesterday and said "would you like some yogurt Sofie?" I didn't give her any but it made her smile.

I can guarantee my grandmother will give Sofie her first taste of solids, she's done it with every baby in the family (just about). I probably won't even know it happened.

  • My oldest brother was getting rice cereal at 3 weeks. My mom wasn't producing enough milk so my grandmother talked her into feeding him the rice cereal. He absolutely loved it! He's 31 now and I don't see any damage from him eating solids at 3wks. I wouldn't do the same, but my parents didn't know what else to do!

My parents did this with my brother as well, starting at 2 weeks. My mom tried to convince me to do it with DD and I told her no.
