how long to get pregnant after a D&C??

Hi Ladies, I had a blighted ovum discovered just over 2 weeks ago and I had a D&C just over 1 weeks ago, I"m really sad, but I am also really anxious to start trying again, I was just wondering, for those of you who had a D&C, how long did it take for you to get pregnant again? also, I heard the chance of multiples is higher after a D&C, anyone pregnant with twins or more after a D&C??

    I'm so sorry for your loss.

    I technically had a D&E, but I was given the go-ahead to TTC after one full cycle.  I got pg that cycle.  Don't know yet if I'm having twins, but I doubt it based on my betas.

    When did your doctor say you could start trying again? 

    I had one cycle, got pregnant again and then miscarried again. It took another five months to make this baby.

    I'm so sorry for your loss. I got pregnant the first cycle trying after we got the go ahead from the doc to start TTC again.

    So sorry for your loss.. It is heartbreaking to have to go through this... I was giving the OK after 1 complete cycle... but I decided to wait the 3 cycles that is reccomended by most dr's just to be safe and give my body time to heal..

    I don't think my D&C had anything to do with my situation. I just want to preface it with that. I never had a problem getting pregnant. Four out of my six pregnancies were conceived on my first try. My first took 3 cycles/2 mo this to conceive. I had my D&C in November 2009, and I did t get a BFP until January 2011. I was really shocked that it took so long, but I still don't believe my D&C had anything to do with it. Even if it did, I have no regrets. I would choose a D&C again.

    The nurse at the hospital said to wait for 3 cycles before trying again (thats typical hospital policy), but I went to my family doctor and she said it is safe to have sex after a D&C after the bleeding has stopped which is usually 5-7 days and she recommended us to wait 1 cycle to start trying again, the only reason she said to wait for 1 cycle is to date the pregnancy but if I got pregnant before I had my 1 cycle that would be ok too.

    My DR is amazing she said I could have an early ultrasound to make sure the baby has a heartbeat and is in the right place, she also said I could have a u/s every 2 weeks if I wanted to ease my mind (thats a bit excessive, but nice to know its available if I want one)

    I promise you that when you get pregnant again, you won't think it is excessive. :)

    I just can't wait to get pregnant and see that little heartbeat on the screen! I was 4 days away from my first ultrasound when my blighted ovum was discovered. can't wait to be pregnant with my take home baby!! :)

    I'm sorry to hear about your loss.  We were told to wait 2 cycles, we got pregnant on the third both times. Go figure, it took us over a year to get KU the first time!

    I'm so sorry for your loss.

    Hmmm...twins after a D&C? That's a new one on me. I don't know why that particular proceedure would cause two eggs to grow and pop out (identical twins are more fluke of nature).

    I got PG again, 2 IUIs after the D&C. However, I lost that one too. I got PG again the next cycle, which is this current PG.


    BFP #1 via IUI ~ L (Fatal Birth Defect) 4/7/10
    BFP #2 via IUI ~ m/c
    BFP #3 via cancelled IUI ~ C (2lb 3oz; HELLP) 5/16/11
    BFP #4 via the natural (free!) way ~ E (8lb 11oz) 9/13/12

    Sorry for your loss.  I'm not sure how a D&C increases the chance of multiples since it only affects your ute--multiples are really only related to eggs.

    But it took me 7 months to get pg again after my D&C.  And there's only one in there.  GL!
