How long did/will DH stay home with you and the baby?

DH got one week (unpaid of course) off with me - so he spent all day Monday with me in the hospital while I was induced - we had Dayne on Tuesday morning and he was back to work the following Monday. I've been on my own at home for two weeks now. It was terrifying at first but I've been easing into it - getting use to it just in time to return back to work myself on Monday. Grrr.

DH gets to use three sick days from the time I go to the hospital unless my doctor writes a note to extend his time. Anything after that has to be authorized and taken as vacation time. He mentioned last night he wants to use 3 or 4 vacation days so that'd be 6 or 7 days off but it'll depend heavily on if his vacation gets authorized. So I'm going to guess a total of 9 days, counting a weekend?

DH will stay with me for about 4 days and then my leave will be 8 weeks long. After my leave is finished DH will get his own paternity leave which will be about 6-8 weeks long.

Dh will be taking four weeks off at the beginning and then one more additional week when I have to go back to work as a teacher to finish out the school year. All of his time comes from accumulated vacation time he has earned.

DH is taking off for 2 weeks. My mom is coming up for the 3rd week. I remember the 3rd week being the most difficult for me. DS went through his 3 week growth spurt and slept in 30 minute increments all night long for a couple of nights. I thought I was going to go crazy.

DH stayed with me in the hospital from the Tuesday we checked in until the Monday we checked out. He also stayed home with me the whole week once we left the hospital. The next week he stayed home 2 days because we had had 2 AWFUL nights with Liam. Once I go back to work at the end of April, he will also be taking 2 full weeks off to stay home with him until we have someone else start watching him. He has a really great job with lots of vacation time saved up.

DH is probably going to take 5-7 vacation days, he works a 10 day on 4 day off schedule and so it kinda depends on where in his schedule the baby comes. This coming weekend is his weekend off so we were hoping for LO to come this past weekend so he could take off the rest of this week then have until next tues off but no luck so far. After he goes back to work I believe MIL is going to come stay with us to help out.

DH planned to take a week of paid vacation (he gets two weeks a year). He ended up taking an extra half day on the day DS was born (it was a Friday). I think this might have been long enough if I had a vaginal delivery, but with my C-section I was wishing he could have taken two weeks instead. I was still so sore and my activity was so limited that second week, it would have been nice to have had more help. Still, I'm glad he still has some vacation days left for if DS gets sick so I will not have to miss as much work. Next time I would like plan ahead better so we can be financially stable enough for him to take at least two weeks and for me to take eight instead of just six.

My DH took off the Thursday and Friday we were in the hospital (I was induced), and then all of the following week. Today is his first day back at work, and I am managing okay (so far!) The housework isn't getting done though...

DH took 9 work days total off this time, because I had a c-section. It worked out to be one day shy of 2 weeks that he was at home, and it worked out well. With DD (who was a vaginal birth), he only took one week off, which was fine last time, but wasn't enough this time, because I was still pretty sore and wasn't really supposed to be up doing everything that needs to be done on a daily basis.

MH took off the day DD was born (a thursday), the day after, and the Monday I came home. That was it. I had family help me my first week home.

DH was off for three weeks. Today was actually his first day back. He took one week off unpaid, and then had two weeks scheduled off since his school was closed for March Break.

Mine took three weeks. They came from his sick time. I can't believe you have to go back on Monday! That's hard.

My husband left work the afternoon of Tuesday, March 8 to take me to the hospital, Luke was born that night, then my husband took off through Friday. He went back to work Monday, March 14, so today begins my third full week home by myself with Luke. The first week was very hard, but it's getting easier, especially since I'm more healed now.

He gets 10 days of paid paternity leave so he'll take that and then probably a few days of his own.
