I didn't let W sleep that long when she was that little, but that was only because she was low weight gainer and she needed to nurse to help my supply. Otherwise, I would've let her sleep as long as she wanted.
well I guess I got my answer, he just started to vigorously try to nurse on the bunny on his swing while half asleep. I got him up. That was pretty funny to watch though.
I have read on the boards, that once a baby has reached his/her birth weight, is gaining weight & producing an adequate number of wet/soiled diapers... you no longer have to wake them up for feedings. Supposedly, newborn babies can be "content to starve" & will sometimes sleep too long.
*not a nurse or doc, just what I've gleaned from the boards.
Re: LO has been sleeping 4 hours.
I recently asked the same question and these are the answers I got:
He'll wake up if he's hungry or wet.
Let him sleep.
No way.
And seriously, how do you guys get these incredible sleepers?
K has NEVER slept for more than 2 hours. And those two hour naps? I can count those on one hand.
He really only naps once a day, in the morning, and it is usually about 3 hours. Then he naps for like 20 min. in the afternoon, if I am lucky.
I will let him sleep, after all, the dr. said he could afford to miss a feeding or two.
