We are expecting another one this October - and I think this time around we are going to go the amnio route and have a test to specifically see if this baby has our son's diagnosis, PWS. We didn't go that route with the last one, but I think to calm our nerves we are going to go for it this time.
I am just curious if anyone out there will let me in on what the amnio was like. Was it painful? Not that I am freaking out or anything.
Re: Anyone want to share their amnio experience?
The amnio itself felt very routine. It was not painful - just a slight pinch - and was over very quickly. Waiting for the results was much harder than the actual test itself. And that was because the doctor recommended it because she thought my daughter had trisomy 13 (she does not). If they are doing a FISH test, don't do it on a Wednesday because they said 3 days and the results came back on Friday night but no one could read them until Monday morning. So if I ever had to do it again, I'd do it on a Monday to make sure I got the results while a doctor was in the office!!
I have had 2 amnios (pretty easy...not much pain...slightly sore afterwards)
I have had 3 amnio reductions (30min procedure to drain excess amnio fluid) and that hurts.
