Since H and I were charting we know within a day or so when we conceived, and going by that date it puts our EDD at 8/9. The pregnancy wheel at the doctor's office put our EDD about a week later, but when we had our big U/S a few weeks ago they said he was measuring a week ahead (which pretty much confirms our original EDD).
It doesn't really matter because it's just a week and he'll come when he feels like it (and I'd rather the doctors think my EDD is later rather than earlier), but for those that had a pretty good idea of when they conceived and their EDD was different from their doctor's, which date do you go by on your ticker, when you talk to people, etc?
Random and not very important :P Just procrastinating! ha!
Re: Question/Matter of Opinion: EDD
Since I was charting too, I go by the August 7th date regardless of what they tell me. They keep telling me that my date should be August 3rd or 4th, but I know when I o'd.
I've heard the best date to stick to is the latest one, that way if your doc thinks you should be due August 3rd, based on the baby "measuring big", you won't be talked into an induction by the 7th or 8th if you know when you ovulated. (I don't know how soon after your due date they bring up induction-just an example).
Based on charting, my OB's original "wheel" estimate, my NT scan, and my elective u/s I have now gotten 4 different dates varying from Aug. 22 to Aug. 31 because baby girl keeps measuring ahead.
Currently when I tell people my due date I just say "the last week of August" but I did as my OB and she said they would try to pin down a date at my anatomy scan this week.
ETA: my ticker is based on my NT scan since that was the first "real" measurement we got.

Whoo-hoo! I have my anatomy scan this week too. Are you super excited??
With my 4 year old DD, I know the day that exH and I had sex that month (because we only had sex one time that month). That, and my last period, put my EDD as Jan 3rd, by ultrasound they said my EDD was Jan 10th, she was born on Jan 7th, right in the middle.
I always told people she was due Jan 3rd, because I was pretty sure she was really due Jan 3rd
I went by my LMP date, and it matched my O date, too. At our scan, baby was measuring exactly, so we've always had the same date. Our anatomy scan is next week, so we'll see if baby is still measuring right on time.
I would go with the later date to avoid any hassle from the doc to try and get you to go early.
Thanks ladies! It seems like it's just a matter of preference.
Since I want to go into labor on my own, I'm definitely going by doctor's EDD with the doctor's office -- I don't want him to try to induce, even though he knows how I feel about it and has been supportive so far. I feel like it gives me an extra week of wiggle room.
I've been saying "middle of August" anyways (unless someone wants a firm date -- something I find to be very strange) :P
I was just talking to DH about this. I'm glad I'm not the only one who was charting and has a different EDD than the doctor. I'm going with my charted EDD of Aug 17 because the sonographer seemed really confused. First she gave us an EDD of Aug 17 which was perfect, but then at our next u/s she thought she told us Aug 23. I am planning for my EDD and if it comes and goes then I'll just look at that as a little more time to prepare.
Hopefully all this confusion will be settled at our anatomy scan tomorrow! Soooo excited! I can't wait to see all it's little parts... especially the part that will tell us whether to buy blue or pink.
My date was only off by 2 days, but my doctor agreed to official change it to match the date that we conceived, because they were able to confirm that was the correct date based on my initial u/s.
My ticker reflects the actual date we conceived, which is now my offical EDD per my OB.
