Dear Mom,
I appreciate all that you've done for me, all the wisdom and support you've given me, but please realize that I am not you. My parenting style will be different from yours, and we will do things differently then you and my mother-in-law did. Our baby is ours to raise, and while we will take the things you suggest into consideration, please realize that we have our own ideas on raising our daughter that may be different than the ideas you had.
Please realize that the sly comments that you make and the disappointing tone in your voice is noticed, and does not help anything. I don't know what to do to make you realize that we will be ok. We will make mistakes, but let us make them. That is the only way we are going to learn.
I do love you dearly, and always will, but please please please let me raise my daughter without making me feel like a horrible mother.
Love,
Your Daughter
