Anyone get this sick?

So with DS I never got MS - never threw up a single time. With LO, same thing pretty much. Before yesterday, I only threw up once (changing DS's diaper - it was nasty and I was hyper sensitive to smells).

Yesterday, I felt like crap all day. Had a terrible headache (I never get headaches) and felt nauseous.  Then, right before I went to bed I got worse and ended up vomiting like 8 times in 5 minutes. I went to bed hoping I'd feel better in the morning. I ended up not sleeping well because I felt so terrible all night. I got up around 4am to drink some water and I instantly threw that up too. Then again around 5am. I've been able to sip water the last 2 hours and keep it down, and haven't vomited again.

My doctor's office doesn't open for another hour, so I'm wondering if you ladies had similar experiences? At this point, I'm pretty sure its not MS. I'm thinking stomach flu - or maybe food poisoning. Ideas?

Re: Anyone get this sick?

  • I had similar symtoms a couple of months back, and had a Dr's appt that day.  My doc was pretty positive that I had the 24 hour flu.  I couldn't keep even water down most of the day, but towards evening was able to have water and popsicles.  My guess is flu, feel better.

  • Sounds like you have a flu bug - not preg related sickness.

  • I'm pretty sure its the flu - is that something that I would *need* to see a doctor for? My doctor's office tends to be a little paranoid (which I can't complain about, better that than the opposite), but I really don't want to deal with leaving work, figuring out DS, etc to go in and confirm I have the flu

  • You're at work while you're sick like that? Wow..kudos to you.  I was in bed and miserable.   I'd say if you keep throwing up and can't even keep water down by this afternoon to go to the Dr.  They will most likely hook you up to an IV for fluids so you don't get dehydrated.

  • Well, problem is I own my own business and one of my staff can't get here until 9am (it's 8am now). I would love to have called in sick - but if I didn't come in our business wouldn't be able to be open (we need 2 people here at all times). I'm planning on leaving as soon as they get here, but I just want to go and rest.

  • Ugh that sucks! Feel better, hope you don't have to go to the Dr.

I had a stomach bug when I was about 8 weeks and they just called in Zofran for me to stop the vomiting so I could take Tylenol for my fever and told me to make sure I didn't get dehydrated. Personally I don't think you NEED to go for the flu but that's just me. I'd just make sure you're not running a high fever and try to rest.
