how's everyone doing as a couple with the newborns, or at the tail end of your pregnancy? last night my mom kicked me and the boyfriend out the house. we've both been out with friends separately but nowhere together in a month. so we went out to eat and just sort of sat there. i'm like "what else do we talk about besides the baby" cause i haven't done anything non-baby related in seriously a month. finally we got back in the swing of things and had a decent conversation and i even knocked back (most of) a hurricane. i was subsequently wasted lol. then after dinner we couldn't think of anything else to do at 10pm on a saturday night, so we went back home. is anyone else this lame? i'm not exactly embarrassed because i am a parent now but still, what the hell do people do for date nights?

My parents live 9 houses down, and my mom had the luxury of retiring at a younger age, so we have tons of help. I'm so thankful for this, too! They keep LO for us if we want to sneak out for a bite to eat, and they've even kept him overnight for us. Normally all 5 of us go out to eat together though. It's nice, and I'm so happy that my parents are such involved grandparents. I couldn't imagine doing this without their help.
A lot of mornings my mom will come down and sit with Jake while I sleep a little. It's the best gift ever.
You are so lucky! My mom lives 2 hours away and can't move... she takes care of my 88-year-old grandma. She came for about a week when LO first arrived, but then she had to go back. She will be here again this weekend so DH and I can go OOT for his volleyball tournament. We will only be 2 hours away for 2 nights, but I know it will be so hard on me. I'm psyching myself out so that I will actually go and leave him with her. I really need a break and some sleep, so that's my motivation. I know he's in good care with her. I wouldn't be able to leave him with anyone else.

At least she's only 2 hours away! That's awesome she's able to stay with him so you guys can get out!
I plan on getting date nights in at least once a month if not every other week. My parents live in Florida so they cannot watch him but my IL's are 15 minutes away and LOVE to watch him. They even took him overnight at 9 days so DH & I could get out with friends.
They are such a blessing - I'm so glad they're close by and so excited about their grandchild.
Since we're bottle feeding our LO we find it easy to get out. My mother is a neighbour of ours so she came over and watched DD for us on Friday night while we went out to dinner and then again on Sat when we had to do some errands and didn't want to take her to Walmart.
We do talk alot about DD while we are out though.

Our date nights include LO right now...we haven't been without him since we haven't introduced a bottle yet....we plan to at the end of this week (and only by DH and if need be).
I told DH that in a week or two I'd like to go to dinner for an hour without LO and then begin to get integrated back into our old lives....may be difficult at first!
