This is how out of it I was...

This is how out of it I was during labor.

DH:  Did it hurt getting cathed?
Me:  I was cathed?  *shocked look*
DH:  Um....yes.
Me:  *chuckle*  No I wasn't.

**I was saying that as I was trying to replay everything in my head, because I honest to God do not remember.**

DH:  Uh...I was sitting next to the bed watching urine flow out.

Me:  Humm...I'll be damned.  Obviously it didn't.

  • I'm glad to hear that you didn't realize. I took a trip to L&D for severe lower back pain (they thought it was kidney stones) and in order to get a clean urine sample they put a catheter in for a minute to get a sample. It really hurt! Now everytime I think about having to get one for labor I want to cry. But I assume they'll do it after the epi so I'll be numb.

That is when they did mine.  It was amazing.  I had to get up every 5 minutes to pee prior to that, and I hated the feeling of a full bladder.  I felt that way even after my epi, so when the put the cath in, it was such a relief.

I know!  Isn't that a great conversation to have while you're enjoying your Sunday chicken dinner at a family restaurant?  What loving couple doesn't talk about catheters and urine over corn bread?  LOL

  • That's funny. I was just thinking about this the other day. I know I had a catheter, I remember them putting it in. I just don't remember them taking it out! I remember right after delivery, like within minutes the nurse took the epi out, but I honestly can't remember them taking the cath out!

OMG!  I don't remember the epi coming out either!  I type this as I rub my back like it's still there.  LOL
