Could you please recommend a good twin organic mattress??

I'm buying my 2yo son a twin bed to transition him from crib to bed, and we're currently researching organic mattresses and I would love to hear some first-hand experiences you've had with specific brands or companies.

I don't want to have to spend an arm and a leg for a mattress (but if I have to I will) so if anybody knows of any cheaper organic mattresses out there then that would be greatly appreciated! We've seen the coil ones and the latex or rubber ones, and the latter seem a lot more expensive.

Which mattress did you buy and did you like it? TIA!

  • I'm looking into the same thing, but I heard you can just buy an organic mattress cover to zip over a traditional mattress if you can't find one.  I would do more research on that though.

  • We got a Naturepedic organic crib mattress and I'm pretty sure they sell twin ones.  However the crib one was not cheap.
  • Ikea sells natural latex mattresses which, while not organic per se, do not have all the fire retardant chemicals in them because natural latex is naturally fire resistant.  We bought one of their queen mattresses for around $700 I think, which seems pretty reasonable.
