Tucks is a brand name for hemorroid relief wipes...
They started working pretty much instantly for me and I just wiped with them, didn't leave them "tucked" up anywhere...though I imagine after birth they might provide some prolonged relief by being left in place?
Thanks girls! I never have heard of them and was just picture what the heck they could be and where they could be stuck...I was thinking of some sort of vag wipes. haha
just wipe is what i would say. leaving one "tucked" in might actually burn the skin and it's already sensitive so i wouldn't risk it. if you don't have relief within a few days, i would use something in addition. don't forget to drink a ton of water and give a stool softener a try. seriously, i had the worst experience when pregnant the first time around. i feel like i can give a lecture on this topic, i learned so much.
i hope you feel better soon!

and do you just wipe with them or do you leave one tucked in there too/ for how long?
you dont put them inside you but after having a baby they have you make a sandwich(as my hospital says) by putting the tucks pads on an actual pad (simulating bread)and then hemroid ointment on top of the tucks pads(simulating your sandwich filling) if you need extra relief

I have had them horribly. Tucks did not give me much relieft, but I really wanted to stay away from Prep H...I ended up taking Colace, which is a stool softner and after my showers I dip a Q-Tip in Vasoline and slop it on there. I have not had any issues since..I do use Tucks after a BM now, but thought I would share what works for me....Good Luck!

Like PPs said you lay them on a pad. It's always nice to keep them in the fridge so they're nice and cool too. If you don't use Tucks you can use witch hazel. Some people soak a pad with it and freeze it to use.
Oh, and there will be no wiping in the beginning. You'll clean yourself with water from a peri bottle and then blot.
I found this site that explains how to make the "sandwich."
I was wondering about doing the "sandwich" fold with the tucks pad and leaving it between the butt cheaks so it can actually reach the hemorrhoid. I haven't really had difficult stool, but get an upset stomach and lose stool several times a day multiple days/wk and as a result of yesterday's occurences have a flare up. They don't hurt or itch and aren't bleeding but I just want to try to shrink them so they don't get worse.

For now, try taking a sitz bath (just a few inches of hot water) and then applying witch hazel. It helps a lot. WH contracts and shrinks the blood vessels.
The strain of pushing will cause them to flare up quite a bit but as long as you're careful you can keep them from getting out of control. Take stool softeners, drink a lot of water and take the baths and apply WH or Prep H.

Thank you Chelsea! I had no idea either!
Same here. I had no idea. Thanks for the clarification.

okay what's the difference between applying witch hazel and using the tucks (the ones I have are soaked in witch hazel)? Should I still use a stool softener when I've been having lose frequent stools (sometimes that's all I have, sometimes I'll have regular bm but then the same day I'll have lose stool multiple times later)? Even when I have this I get pressure down there because of upset stomach. Sorry for so much tmi.
do you use them during the day at work? If so do you take your purse to the bathroom each time or have some stashed in there or what? I don't usually take my purse so I'm trying to figure out how to be discreet about this or do I just treat it while home?

Loose stool is often a sign of constipation, at least that's what my kid's ped told me. So you might want to try extra fiber. The stool softener suggestion was for post partum use, sorry I wasn't clear about that before. I don't know if it would help with what you're dealing with now.
If the Tucks are witch hazel then you can just use those. I didn't know that was the main ingredient in them. Those are fine. If you want to save $ a large bottle of WH is only a couple of dollars and will last you forever. The Tucks are probably more convenient for work though. I would just keep them in your purse and take them into the bathroom with you.
Huh, I never knew loose stool was a sign of constipation, I thought the opposite. I do typically eat a fiber one bar every day but not sure how much fiber I get from other sources. What easy lunch/snack type foods have a lot of fiber?
The tucks I have say witch hazel is 50% of the ingredient if I recall correctly. Where in the pharmacy would I find this witch hazel if I were to go looking for it? Yeah I hope this damn thing will go away quick and not get worse each time I go to the bathroom. I'm starting to get afraid to go for fear of making it worse and I"m sure that won't help things. At least it doesn't hurt at this point, it just feels like something is there.
