Pregnant after IF

When did you or plan to start nursery?

I think my parents are coming to visit in May and my dad will be a huge help.  I have not done anything.

Re: When did you or plan to start nursery?

  • We bought our furniture, but haven't yet done anything else.

We were sort of waiting on determining the gender, but we also didn't want a nursery for a baby that might not ever come home (thanks IF), so we kind of agreed that we would wait until 24-26 weeks before we really got to decorating.

  • I started looking at things immediately.  We didn't purchase stuff until about 22-24 weeks.  Until then I just had everything saved on email drafts.  We painted and started doing stuff in the nursery at maybe 28 weeks?

  • Wainscoting and painting started/finished in November, bought our furniture at the end of November and border and other decorating finished last month. We are just waiting for our LO's now ;)

  • I have a few ideas as far as decorating, but waiting to find out the sexes first. We bought our cribs 2 weeks ago and they came in on Thursday. We've been cleaning out the nursery as it's become our catch-all since we bought our house. We put the cribs together today, but still have some cleaning out to do.

  • We haven't really started yet, although we did order the cribs last weekend.  We're selling a bunch of the furniture in that room (desk, futon, etc.).  And, we cleaned out the closet in there this weekend -- our friend does California Closets on the side, so he's coming to scope the space and draft a plan.

Some days I feel like I have plenty of time, and other days I feel overwhelmed by it all...

  • We bought furniture around 20 weeks, but then found out we have to move so we haven't done much since.  We're moving in 2 weeks and plan to really work on the nursery then.  We can't do much though because I promised my mom I wouldn't buy anymore stuff for Max until after the shower, so we will wait until then to buy what we still need for the nursery.

  • I think about it a lot but I'm scared. I think maybe we'll start working on it after getting to viability.

  • We ordered the furniture and painted around 22 weeks.  I think waiting until 24-26 weeks is fine.  Have fun!

  • I have always had lots of ideas and been looking online for inspiration and ideas.

We got wainscoting put up at about week 13 and we painted it and painted the room at 14 weeks. Since then I have worked like crazy on it and i am 3/4ths done... crazy I  know.

  • We wait a long time to get started on ours. Our baby room was our office and we needed to move the office upstairs to our loft space prior to working on the baby room. We don't usually heat our upstairs so we wanted to wait until winter was almost over before moving it upstairs.

So now we have six weeks left and have a ton left to do. I'm not super concerned though. This weekend we painted the trim and cleaned the hard wood floors and got some patterns for window treatments and a crib skirt.  It'll get done.

  • We're currently cleaning out the room that will be the nursery. (It has been our "junk room" for the last few years. It is already painted the right color (we did it when we moved in.) We'll probably buy furniture when we are further along about 20 weeks or so. We already have the bedding (we bought it a LONG time ago because it was being discontinued and have had it in storage every since.)

  • We also had to clean out the room - it had been a guest bedroom.  I had it painted Spring Green years ago for the nursery.

I just ordered a rug for the room.  And I still need to order the crib and glider.
