I believe breast milk is good for about 4 hours out of the fridge (someone correct me if I am wrong). My pump came with an ice pack in a little travel carrier that I can keep milk cold in.
that was me a few hours ago! we had a three hour drive home this afternoon from my parents and ds called in the last hour. i didn't pump prior to leaving so we needed to pull over while i changed/nursed him in the backseat- fun times! like pp mentioned, my pump, too, came with a travel cooler...i just didn't want to be bothered with it, but certainly will once i return to work.
on a separate note, i read on kellymom.com and other sources that breastmilk is safe to use for up to 10 hours at room temperature- 4-6 in a warm room (79 degrees+).
Yeah it's pretty much a pain in the ass. I don't want to screw up my supply by not nursing or pumping. During the day, I don't like to go more than 4 hours so if I'm going to be out with DD for that long, then I'll just nurse her somewhere... probably in the car.
I have a cover up in case I need to feed DD, but I have started the habit of making sure that I bring a bottle with me if I am going to be out when its time for her to eat.
