Ooops, posted this first in Parenting after 35 thinking I was here. Is my eyesight going ALREADY? LOL
(trying to insert myself around here... lol)
Anyone have anything fun or exciting going on this weekend? Nothing here. DH is a CPA and it's crunch time. He's currently mowing the weeds, I mean lawn, and then headed to the office. I'm just so grateful he's mowing. Last year I started taking that on some (never had mowed in my entire life!) but since it's mostly weeds we have to bag it.... pregnant and constantly bending over to take the bag off and put it back on and dump it in the big bag in between.... not fun).
After that he'll be headed to the office and I won't see him again until after the boys are in bed. He's managed to not go into the office every Sunday so far but I think that streak will end tomorrow).
The boys and I will go pick up my mom and bring her over here for a good part of the day. She's got early-to-mid-stage Alzheimer's and is in Assisted Living near us.
And in between, I need to do some house picking/cleaning up. This place has gone to pot during the 1st trimester. Energy is back and I am out of excuses.
That's about it.... boring!
Re: Anything exciting for you this weekend?
We just had our anatomy ultrasound yesterday and found out we are having a girl, so I'd say I'll be doing a lot of daydreaming this weekend!
Plus, it's one of our friends birthday today, so we're going to a party this evening.
Other than that, not too much....cleaning (YUCK)!
Right now, I'm trying to decide what to eat today. I'm hungry, but nothing sounds good. I've been on a Mexican kick lately and am thinking about making taco pizza.
I guess my weekend's pretty boring, too! I'm ready for nice weather so that we can get outside more and not freeze our tushies off!
We have a lawn service, thank goodness. I couldn't imagine trying to cut the grass like this, I can't even grocery shop without having contractions. We have a very small lot, so for 80 bucks a month, it's WELL worth it.
I finished up the taxes and submitted our payment. I guess I should be thankful we only have to pay 50 dollars this year. I never understood why the government feels the need to punish people for not reproducing, but that won't be a problem on next year's return!
I also spent the morning condensing the bump's 6 page birth plan form into a one page birth plan with our preferences using Microsoft Publisher. It turned out pretty spiffy if I do say so myself... I think they might actually READ it! You know they say presentation is everything
Baby has been very active this morning, I don't think I will ever get used to the punches and jabs and nausea associated with her beating up my insides constantly. Thankfully only 8 weeks 5 days to go.
I think curling up in bed with a book sounds like a fantastic idea right now.
I'm doing laundry and cleaning. I have to head to hubby's shop soon and do the books and billing. Then I'll sneak in a little more welding practice...
then more cleaning - my house has been ignored (or "cleaned by teens") for too long now.
I did sleep in and may take a nap in between laundry loads - next weekend is a 4 day swap meet in Portland (used car parts - we've got a booth for hubby's business) so I"ll be on my feet and working for 4 days/12 hours a day straight. Not to mention loading, unloading, set up, tear down, loading, un loading. It's a long weekend NO pregnant so it should be interesting.
We also started our registry at Toys-R-Us last night after a nice dinner out - we have to head to Babies R Us today to work on it some more - we figured out which car seat we want but want to see it in person...
Last night I learned that Chinese food and being pregnant do not mix! I swelled up almost instantly! Then got up at 5 this morning to go support my best friend at her first 5k run. It was in Philadelphia. We are both HUGE Phillies fans and the race was a Phillies run. Started in front of the ball park and fininshed there. I did a LOT of standing in the windy cold this morning! She did great! I am so proud of her. I was suppose to do the run with her, but found out right before that I was pregnant. I felt like I had to go because I am the one that got her to start running. Tonight we are going to dinner at another couples house.
My next week is super busy! Furniture repair guy coming, a preseason Phillies game, a dr. appointment, my parents in for my baby shower on Saturday. Then it gets worse the week after! So we are doing NOTHING tomorrow!
Pretty boring over here as well .. matter of fact, I'm still in my PJs! DH & I had plans for him to mow the lawn & I would help laying the mulch in the flower bed .. NOT!
However, we have caught up on 3 wks worth of House, M.D. & Harry's Law episodes
Hopefully, tomorrow after church we'll head to BRB and/or Target to complete a registry .. I've been 'ordered' by my sister & MIL to do so .. they're planning the baby shower.
AAAhhhh.... just sitting down. I had planned to do next to nothing this weekend since the next couple will be jam packed, but things change I suppose.
I was able to sleep in. Then had a couple of appointments for estimates for new a housecleaning person. My BFF came over and dropped off a bassinet she is letting me borrow. My parents came over so my dad could finish up a couple of projects around the house since it became painfully clear H is not handy. I was also able to sand down a dresser I plan to have restained for the nursery with the help of a good friend.
Next weekend, the crib, glider and more painting will have our house jumping with major activity. And hopefully then we can get all the furniture moved around and start getting things back in order.... I hope.
Worked 1/2 day yesterday. Then out to Walmart/Dollar Store/Dots with a friend. Dinner with DH & my Parents. Then off to Target to check out some baby stuff. I had a busy day yesterday. My feet were killing me & I was in bed by 9pm! LOL
I think today ill just hang out & clean. Kids will be coming back from their fathers earlier then normal today mabe ill get them to help throw out some crap in the basement. Who knows.
After recently doing our taxes, I'm pretty pessimistic about what we'll get for LO. You always hear from single people about all the unfair extra tax breaks that married people get, even without kids, and this was our first married return. Plus we bought a house near the beginning of last year, which also is supposed to help. Yet I ended up owing more than I did as an unmarried renter. Very annoying. And disappointing. It would have been nice to get some money back to put towards baby gear.
Yesterday had a form of excitement. We watched part of a birth class DVD. DH is now totally traumatized. And there weren't even childbirth videos. The woman just held up the occasional vague diagram.
Today I'm going to shop for maternity pants for the first time. That will probably be less than fun as well. Especially since I've always disliked shopping in general, and this is the sort of thing that even happy shoppers get upset by.
It's kind of amazing. Especially since I've gained 30+ pounds and my fundal height is totally on track. Same number of centimeters as weeks along at every appt. But I carry weight oddly in general, even non-baby weight. I have to gain/lose at least 20 pounds before I go up or down a size, for example.
I think part of it is that I lost 27 pounds in 2009 and never got around to buying new pants, so they were already very loose on me. And all have elastic waists.
Also, my mother made it to 34 weeks without needing maternity clothing so maybe some of it is hereditary.
well, OK, I guess you are excused from my jealously!!! LOL
Heh, this is after the fact, but this weekend was pretty busy (well from a bed rest point of view). Saturday morning I went to a pediatrician info session (DH had to work). It's great because the office is about a mile down the street from me, if that. I like them -- woo, another thing off my list! After the 30 minute session, it was back to the recliner.
Then in the early afternoon, my mom and stepdad arrived from MA to help with getting the apartment organized and the nursery ready for baby. I played armchair quarterback. They ended up carting off a carload of boxes and stuff we just don't have room to store, but don't want to get rid of entirely. After they left for the evening I worked on updating my pregnancy blog... finally up to date (lots to record)! DH didn't come back home til very late, so I was already in bed.
On Sunday my parents came back to finish what they could, and DH was able to add some input. Then two of my cousins stopped by for a little while, so that was cool. Everybody left by about 2 this afternoon, and then DH and I have been spending the late afternoon and evening chilling. He's playing Guild Wars and I'm watching, wistfully wishing I could play with him.

Oh Honey you're mistaken, you get penalized for being married. You don't get a benefit from it. People jokingly refer to it as the "marriage tax".
Both my husband and I have our taxes withheld at the "higher single rate" we both claim 0, and I have an extra 150 dollars per pay period deducted for taxes.. Even with our mortgage, we still pay every year.
Dual income no kids married people are screwed.
I'm hoping that at least now with the baby this year, i can stop the extra 150 a month deduction and not owe next year.
Yeah, I've always heard both versions. Unmarried friends, especially the ones cohabitating, swear up and down that they're the ones getting screwed by the IRS and everyone who is married is getting rewarded financially. And of course the married people say it's the opposite. I was hoping that at least the mortgage would help but not enough.
