Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Either Abby's sick or I'm incompetent

She was fine this morning. DH even got her to nap.

Now she only wants me to hold her. She fell asleep in my arms but wouldn't go down. She's clearly exhausted, but won't nurse or take the paci.

I called the dr and am waiting for a call back. Can't she just tell me what's wrong?

  • our son has been like this recently and he's getting over a bug. any time we'd put him down, even if it was to change his diaper, he'd get sad face.

  • Juliana had a bad reaction to her shots and she has/had RSV, which her pedi and I believe that she picked up when she came in for her shots. I wish they could just tell us what's wrong. I hate not knowing what to do for her or having to guess what is wrong. Sorry to hear that Abby is acting sick. I hope she is just having a day and that she will be all better tomorrow.

  • Is she teething?  My son acts this way if his teeth are really hurting him.  Most of the time he chews on everything in sight.  And other times he just gets really fussy and clingy and won't take a paci or a bottle because he doesn't want to suck on anything.  I'll give him a little ora-gel and he goes back to normal until it wears off and the cycle starts again.

Good luck I hope you can get a break and your DD feels better!

It's been four or five days and apparently we would have seen/felt something by now. we're at the after hours right now to get it checked out. im not sure if i want there to be a tangible problem or not.

  • Awwwww hon, you are not incompetent.  She's clearly not feeling good whether it be from teething or a bug.  I would take her in for peace of mind but just cuddle her and do what you can to help her.

  • my LO was acting like that for a week or two before the first tooth cut through. Trust your gut though if you feel something else is wrong.
  • Poor Abby and poor Momma! I hope you get some answers soon.

well, her ears are fine, but the doctor "found the culprit" in the form of a throat ulcer. poor baby. it hurts to swallow and the pain is likely carrying to her ears.

unfortunately it's a virus so all we can do is give her tylenol and snuggles.

She has the most STD-sounding virus you could possibly have.

It's Herpangina caused by several Coxsackie A viruses. Really? a COXSACKIE virus? Come now. This has to be a joke.

I feel like it has depurified my child somehow.
