I need to figure out how better to keep the toys cleaned up throughout the day. The kids have access to all their toys at one time via toy bins and the play kitchen.
Currently they just play with whatever they pull out most of the day, it isn't like they dump everything out. But it is stressful to me that I can pick everything up and have it a mess again by the end of the day, if not sooner.
I'm debating adding in a toy cleanup before lunch. WDYT? We do some picking up before bed, Mady gets to pick between books or kitchen toys and Declan typically does the movies since he can reach it and it's easier for him.
It isn't like we even have what I would consider a ton of toys, they just take over so easily since they're smaller, they get scattered!
Re: What are your tricks?
we do a pickup before nap and i also make them pick up certain things before doing something that they really want to do. say they want to draw with markers--it's my job to get the art stuff set up and ready while they clean up whatever else is out.
it works *some* of the time. i have become pretty lenient esp. with the rainy weather. a fun time for them means dumping out the entire toybox, or bookshelf, or stuffed animal bin and "building a house" which means sitting on top of the pile. if they are having fun and keeping each other entertained, and playing nicely together, i don't mind picking up when they're asleep or playing in the sandbox.
trying to keep up and keep everyone from tripping over stuff is totally exhausting!!!
