We are really trying to save $$$ for baby, so my weekends usually consist of trying to find cheap nursery projects to keep me busy while husband works (instead of going shopping and spending wayy too much money haha). Things are really starting to come together!
This week we have:
1) Gotten Travel System of Craigslist (normally $179.99 plus taxes/shopping got it for $100.00)
2) Set up Crib (parents purchased)
3) Made and hung DIY Wooden Name
4) Hung up pendant over window (curtains will go under pendant) Pendant only $0.99 cents at Michaels- Yippee!
Im excited! I want to keep working on it but I have to remind myself that I have plenty of time! haha

Re: This weeks checks off list/ nursery progress
Yep sure did- I think quite a few girls on our board have. They are really easy and cheap to do!
I'm getting ready to attempt one. Would you mind sharing how you made yours. I really like it.
I want to know too! It looks fantastic!

Im awful at explaining it! I tried to explain last weekend and then another girl explained and I was like "oh.. THATS how you tell someone to do it haha!"
However, check my post from last weekend (I believe titled nursery progress) and I attempted to explain it in there.
I figured it out by looking at a bunch of mobiles on Etsy under keyword "paper mobile." If you look at the close up pictures you'll see how easy it is! I promise, even though its very hard to explain, its super easy to do. Even for a crafting beginner like me!
Okay Heres where I explained it (badly) last time LOL

For everyone asking about how I made the mobile:
Supplies:
1) Cardstock in various colors
2) Beads
3) String
4) Wooden Circle (I Believe used for knitting? Who knows.. its at Michaels)
5) Ribbon
****
1) First I cut out all the shapes. You can hand cut or buy a shape cutter in the scrapbook section. They are a little expensive (meaning like 15.00.. haha to me thats alot) but you can always get 50% off one item at Michaels coupons. I put them in a little sandwich bag to use once cut.
2) Glue the 4 ribbons that you will hang the mobile from to the top of the wooden circle. Attach all four ribbons at the top with glue so that the mobile can hang. I do this so that I can hang mobile up and see how it looks as I work on it. At this point, I usually hang it from a ceiling fan or something in the room so that I can work on mobile.
3) Start putting shapes onto strings. String can be different lengths or all the same length. I hold the shapes at certain spots by knotting little beads above and below the shape on string. I usually put about 5-6 shapes per string.
4) In order to be able to hang shapes from not only edges of wooden circle, but also center, I make a spider web type pattern using string in center of wooden circle. Basically just tie string on one side of circle and pull straight across to other side and knot. When you are done, you should have a spider web or starburst type pattern.
5) Start hanging strings w/ shapes from wooden circle and inner area of circle.
6) When finished, glue ribbon around the edge of wooden circle to hide string.
Hopefully I didn't confuse you too much! It's a really cheap project- maybe $15.00 total if you shop on a budget.
It's off etsy... I believe I searched "owl vinyl wall decal" and it was by someone w/ username simpleshapes (or something along those lines)
Super easy to do and it looks almost like its painted. Love them! I just wanna put vinyl decals all over my house LOL
You're doing a fabulous job with your nursery! It's SO cute!!!! Can't wait until we get our nursery up and running as well. We're moving so it's going to be a while - in the meantime, i'm organizing all my ideas.
Seriously, though, congrats, it looks great!
