Name Vote: Collin or Reid

I posted this in the baby name category but I thought I'd post it here too. You all have been so helpful with other decisions:)

We found out we are having a boy about two weeks ago and we are so excited! We are stuck on a name now...we love Collin and Reid equally so we are struggling to make a decision. Which name do you prefer?

Our last name is Chassereau and is pronounced "Sash" ereau

Re: Name Vote: Collin or Reid

  • I really like Collin, but they're both nice, classic names! :)

  • I love the name Reid. It is on my short list...but DH isn't a fan.

    Good choices!

  • I don't know if you have a middle name figured out but I really like Collin Reid (Collin for the first name and Reid for the middle)... Just a thought too since they go good together.

  • Have you considered Collin Reid (Your last name -- forgot how to spell it)? That actually sounds really nice altogether. I'm also torn...if you're going for one or the other, they both work.

  • Haha ok you guys busted me:) We are naming him Collin Reid but we are just completely torn on which name to actually call him. One day we're thinking his first name Collin and the next we're thinking his middle name Reid. I just set up this poll to find out who liked which name better and hopefully that would help us figure it out.

  • I'm not a fan of using the middle name as the name people use.

  • I voted Collin, but I much prefer it spelled the traditional way (i.e. Colin, without the double L).

  • I have nothing at all against using the MN as the name like some do, actually that will be the case with my son. But I like Collin better and with two "l's" :)
  • I love the name Collin and especially like the combo with Reid as the middle name.

Spell it with 2 "l's" as people will likely say it a little differently with one "l" (Colin Powell)

  • I definitely prefer Reid...love it!
  • I like them both!

I really doubt this. Colin Firth (actor), Colin Farrell (actor), and Colin Montgomerie (golfer) all use the "regular" pronunciation.  Colin with 2 "L"s is a variant spelling from the correct Irish spelling of Colin.  And the grammar and spelling geek in me just can't get on board with changing the spelling of a name for no reason Smile

But as I always say with name posts - your kid, your name, not really any of my business. Just an alternative perspective!

Well everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Me too. It was my late FIL's name and will be LO's MN if it turns out to be a boy.
