One more clothing question

If you're buying Spring/Summer clothing now for your toddler are you buying a size up from what they wear now, or staying with the size they're currently in? Last year I bought Summer clothes too early and it turned out most of them did not fit (too small) when we got to Summer. BUT I know toddlers do not gain as rapidly as infants...so I bought my DS a size up on tops and his current size in bottoms. I am really hoping these clothes last till September. Just curious what everyone else is doing or if there is a rule of thumb to follow when you buy a season early?

    I bought some a size up and some the size she is wearing now. She has been wearing 12-18 month since about Haloween. I figure by July/August she will be the next size up.

    We are already having spring weather here and I had to go out and buy her some spring clothing in 12 month size. I had some spring stuff for her in 18 month, but most of it either falls off of her and the capris just look like high water pants, lol! However, I'm currently in the process of sorting through some hand me downs and supplementing her summer wardrobe. Everything for summer is in 18 month size. I'm hoping the 18 month capris that I have will fit her in September/October.

    Depends on the brand.  DS has always matched up with the Carter's sizes, so since he'll be 2 this summer, I'd get him the 24mo/2t stuff.  Kohl's brand (I think it's Jumping Bean) seems to run a little smaller, so I go up a size for that.

    DD currently wears 12-18m and when I buy summer stuff I'm getting mostly 24m.  She can wear some 24m stuff now but with summer clothes it doesn't matter as much (no sleeves to roll, no pants too long, etc)

    DS is just starting to wear some 24 month/2T, so I figure he'll be wearing that size that through summer.

    I have to buy her clothes in the season. I have about 4-6 shorts and skirts she never wore last summer in 12 month size that she fits in now! Tons of jeans people got her in 18 month size that might fit in the fall... And she will be two in a month. T shirts and sundresses I can prob buy now in 24 mos or 2t though.

    My DS started getting into some of his 2T stuff this winter, but most of it was too long or too big in general.  So far I've gotten all 2T for summer.  He has 2T stuff from his birthday last Aug. that was made so big he hasn't worn it yet. (Fall/winter clothes)  I don't know if he'll get to!  For next winter I've picked up a few 3T shirts I think I'll wait on the pants though!
