XP: Breast milk question

Hello ladies! I have a question to those that have breastfed for previous LOs.

Can I re-refrigerate re-heated breast milk? To explain: I have already refrigerated expressed milk, re-heated it, LO didn't finish the bottle. Can I put the unused milk back in the fridge and then back in the bottle warmer? Or do should I just automatically throw away the milk he didn't drink?

my lactation lady at the hospital said once saliva mixes with the breast milk it cannot be saved??? not sure if that is all true though just going by her word

Not sure what the experts would say, but I would not refrigerate milk that I had already refrigerated, re-heated and fed. I would discard whatever LO didn't drink...unless he drank nothing from it...as a pp said, if baby's saliva is mixed in, then it's not a good idea. This is also why you don't feed baby food straight from the jar or storage container.

Everything I've read from my lacation books to my birthing class information says once it's been heated once and drank from it has to be tossed. Bacteria will grow.

My lactation consultant said it was fine to put back in the fridge and reheat later.
