My LO is 4 weeks today and I'd like to pump occasionally to start building a freezer stash and so dh can give an occasional bottle. The thing is I am pretty sure I have an oversupply as LO fit almost all of the criteria and it made for really stressful feedings. I've been block feeding this week and changed the position that I nurse in (I recline a lot now to help him avoid choking/coughing during a feeding). Things are going a lot better now for both of us and we're at a point where I feel like I can actually enjoy nursing and LO is a lot more comfortable.
Does anyone have any advice or tips on how I should pump that won't cause any additional supply issues?
Re: Question about pumping with an oversupply
I also have an oversupply and a strong let-down. While I don't feel so engorged as I use to I still have an oversupply and rarely pumped in the beginning. I was told to pump after DS was done nursing (he usually only nurses from one side) for 15min if I wanted to get a stash going. I could definitely go longer but I cut it off at the 15min mark and I am getting a decent supply and I don't feel like I am any more full then normal.
If you are talented enough and your LO only nurses from one side at a time you can pump the other side while your LO is nursing. The natural let-down will allow you to pump more milk. Either way I was told to stop at the 15min mark.

Pumping definitely stimulates your milk production but if you would like to start pumping for a stash wait until you have nursed LO and then pump.
