Meds arrived

I am new to this board and have been reading alot of your posts. I am beginning IVF on March 30th and very excited/ nervous. All of my meds came in the mail yesterday and they are a bit intimidating b/c there are SO many of them. I just wanted to say hello and look forward to your advice and support as we all go through this together.

Welcome and loads of luck with the IVF cycle! I have seen the pictures of the meds on the boards, and I think being nervous make total sense...hang in there one day at a time!

I just did a medicated cycle for IUI and when the box of meds came, I freaked out. It's a lot, but you're not going to use everything at once. Good luck!

Oh I remember that first big box of meds. It's completley overwhelming. There really is SO MUCH. Just take a deep breath and know you don't have to use all those meds at once. In my experience they always give you a lot more needles than you actually need! Good luck on your cycle!

I felt overwhelmed until I started unpacking things. The Menopur in particular was an offender of using a box to hold a box to hold packaged strips and plastic cartons of vials. Once I broke it down into the plastic carton and QCap strip it was much smaller. Especially if you have a moderate or high dosage of Menopur I just ditched the boxes for a weeks worth of meds to start.

I got a basket at the dollar store to hold everything but the unused follistem vials & ovidrel shot (fridge- used follistem can be kept at room temp) and the estrogen patches I won't need until after transfer (cabinet next to the basket). That way I can carry my basket from the kitchen to the better light of the dining room.

It's very overwhelming! AFter my RE taught me how to do the meds, I went home and organized them into two boxes: injectables and pills.

This exactly. It was too overwhelming to look at all the meds at once so I only left out the ones I needed for that day, including syringes. The rest I put out of sight until I needed them (e.g. Garanilex, estrogen patches, PIO, etc.) later in the cycle.

I was nervous when I got mine too, but the Dr. will lay out exaclty what to take when. It makes it much easier!!! Good luck!!!!!!
