Childbirth classes

Has anyone signed up for childbirth classes yet?  I thought it seemed pretty early when I saw it pop up on The Bump to do list, but when I saw my doctor today she recommended scheduling them now.

Re: Childbirth classes

  • i would at least look into how quickly the classes fill.  it really varies by area, but i've heard of people not being able to get into a class until after their due date because they waited to long.  if your dr is saying to schedule it now, that probably means your area has classes fill fast.

  • Loading the player...
  • Ours starts in May.  Also think about how long the class will last (bradley classes are 12 weeks).  You will need to make sure you will get in the class before you are due.

  • Where I am from, you have to register as soon as you know you are pregnant to get in...there are only two classes in the area that are well known. We registered in February, and our class runs July/August.

    Same here.

  • I signed up last week for all my classes. One of them was already booked up (infant cpr) so I had to do some sleuthing to find one in my area with space.
  • We signed up last week (maybe the end of the week prior).  Ours fill up quickly, and they're filled by many of the moms who deliver at our birth center.  I've heard the hospital-based classes don't fill up as fast though, FWIW.
