Cloth Diapering

First Post & Gdiapers question

First post on this board - I have a DD (15 months) and one on the way. We did disposables from day 1 because I was having trouble finding childcare that could accommodate.. I'm now home and hoping to transition to cloth for the remainder of DD's diaper days and with #2.

Someone sent me a size small Gdiaper (cover) - I know that these aren't the "go to" cloth diapers like GoodMama, etc,etc - but does anyone have any experience with these? I figured since I had a free cover coming I would ask for some advice before I go gung-ho getting liners and cloth inserts and disposable inserts..

Any thoughts/advice appreciated! :)

Re: First Post & Gdiapers question

  • I think they are ok but I just stuff them with betterfit prefolds, they have leaked on occasion and I wouldn't use them overnight but they are trim and soft! My friend really likes her stuffed with flats!

  • We use them (among other things).  I'm not a fan of the disposable inserts - they work okay for us, but if I use disposable anything, it's usually just regular disposable diapers.

I find the gcloth to be pretty good for my kids - I use them in pockets and grovia covers as well.      Before going gung-ho on any diaper, try it on your kid(s) first.   Diapers fit different baby differently:)

Oh, I do like gdiapers (among other diapers).

    Good luck!

  • Thanks for the input .. so you do not use the liners? Just a prefold? That's exciting, I know that I have quite a few of those around as people gave me bags to use as burp cloths..

  • yep, gdiaper with the pul snap in part and instead of stuffing it with a Gcloth or disposable insert I just stuff it with a trifolded smaller length prefold. Its a little bulkier than the gcloth but it works fine. Try it and see if you like it!
