After having some issues with tandem nursing, I've decided to cut Charlotte off cold turkey. Has anyone else had to do it this way? I've tried cutting back gradually, but it's not working, in fact she's only nursing more now that Lila is here- not so much as a jealousy thing, but she sees Lila nursing and she thinks "Oh, I guess it's time for us to nurse." Anyway- I wish that after such a great nursing experience, it didn't have to end like this, but Lila just isn't getting what she needs and Charlotte really doesn't need to be nursing anymore and doesn't plan to give it up on her own anytime soon. It's tough, especially since she can actually say "Mommy, I want to nurse." I told her last night when she was nursing that she was a big girl and drinks out of a cup now and that we weren't going to be nursing anymore and she said "Okay." Of course, she didn't really get it. She has tried nursing today, I've told her no and she cried and begged me to nurse her (I didn't). This is so tough. I'm trying to take the approach that "Ava doesn't nurse. She's a big girl. Let's go get a cup like Ava." rather than telling her that nursing is for babies (trying to take the focus off Lila and nursing). I think she'll be fine in a few days... I hope.
Re: I'm cutting Charlotte off cold turkey :(
That sounds so tough. Hopefully it is only tough for a short bit and I think telling her to be like a big girl is a good approach.

I agree with all of this! I think you are doing what will work best for both of your girls! Good luck!
