How much is daycare?

On a monthly basis?

Sorry if this is too personal of a question. DH and I are just trying to figure it out to set up our Healtcare / Dependent care spending accounts but we are too early in the PG to have researched day care prices (i think...or maybe I'm behind).  We've checked out one place in our neighborhood but don't know what the average is.

Also, we live in East Bay...Lafayette to be specific.

TIA!

Re: How much is daycare?

  • We pay around $1000 per month for three days a week at a center in San Jose.

  • My research showed $1000-1200/month for a day care center 5 days a week.  And anywhere between $600-800 for an in-home licensed day care.  My understanding is that its much more expensive to have someone come to your house privately and watch only your kid (like $2000).

  • The places I've looked at (Cupertino/Saratoga) are roughly $1200-$1300 a month.

You got it!  And apparently DH tells me that y'alls deadline is today??  Great, thanks for the heads up buddy.

  • From infant until 2 y.o. we will be paying $45 a day which amounts to $900 - $1035/mo depending on how many days in the month. We also pay $650/mo for our 3 year old. Once she's out of pull up (a.k.a completely potty trained) her rate will drop to $600/mo.

We live in the Sacramento area.

You're in Concord, right?  Do you mind sharing the name of your center?

  • Average in Santa Rosa is $175-$250 a week.  So I'd budget for about $1000 a month.
  • My son goes to a small family daycare. We pay $45 a day.
  • In our area it's a bit more.  Home daycares are $150-300/week which is about a $1200/month and under.  Centers are $1500 and up a month.

I am out in Brentwood, not Concord.  So, that wouldn't help you too much.

  • We pay $120/wk (for 4 days a week) at an inhome care here in sacramento.

     It's $480/mo.

    Your awesome!!

  • My in-home daycare will be $50 per 8 hour day (that's not 8 hours plus lunch, it's 8 hours total). When she's able to eat snacks and lunch with the other kids, that's provided, but as an infant we provide everything.

There aren't any centers in my area, so in home was our only option - although it was our ideal option regardless for an infant.
