My thrush symptoms have not gone away, despite my clean routine (I even sterilize my nursing bras in the microwave!) and gentian violet treatment.
So now an LC I just spoke with says it may not be thrush that I have after all. She's coming by tonight to watch me nurse. She says thrush is over-diagnosed. I described my symptoms and she said I may have vasospasm, perhaps from a shallow latch, and referred me to Kelly Mom.
Thought those with persistent thrush may want to check this out...

Re: May NOT be thrush
That's what I had. I dealt with the deep burning breast pain for at least a month. I tried taking thrush meds but was allergic. Then I figured out that my nipple would turn white every time I had the pain. I looked at the same page you linked and decided to try working on her latch again. I was completely pain free w/in two weeks (my left nipple is kind of flat so it took a while to get it right).
I'm glad you'll be getting help, GL!
Wow thanks for posting this. I just read the whole page and Im almost certain that in my case the breast 'trauma' was my mastitis and then it created this vasospasm. Initially I thought the antibiotics from the mastitis caused the thrush but now Im not so sure.
