so who should get birth announcements?

I'm setting up an announcement on TinyPrints so that we don't have to gather all the addresses together after the birth, but I'm wondering who actually wants to receive birth announcement cards from people.  Obviously close family and friends, the people we invited to the baby shower, they're likely to stick it on their fridge for a while.  DH works from home for a company on the other side of the country, but they're tight-knit despite that and we send christmas cards to his coworkers...  should we basically send them out to the christmas card recipients?  Does anyone not like receiving these things?

Re: so who should get birth announcements?

  • I think you're right with sending them to anyone who went to the shower, and if he is still close with his co-workers then sending them an announcement may be appropriate.  Since you already exchange Christmas cards with then, it would probably be appropriate to send an announcement.

  • I only sent them to people who needed hard copy stuff....most of my friends and my-gen family are just as happy with electronic.  What I did do was get personalized thank-you's it had the picture and name.  Oh I also used photo-stamps for anyoneI thought would notice them (this was back in 2006). Good luck deciding!
