If Kindle's bilirubin levels don't go down by tomorrow, they're admitting her to the hospital. The thought of this breaks my heart. If you could just say a little prayer for her, I'd really appreciate it!
Reese had to stay an extra day after I was discharged. They moved her to the special care nursery. Luckily I got to stay with her in her room but it felt so helpless that I was discharged and she wasn't able to come home with me. Her levels came down the next day and got to go home but they did go back up. The bilirubin levels peak on the 6th day of life. hope her levels come down and you get to take her home. Make sure she eats and eats (we had to supplement, first with formula after breastfeeding, then pumped BM), and poops and poops!
Definitely praying you don't have to admit her back to the hospital. I went through this with Anna and it absolutely broke my heart so I completely understand how you are feeling. Although jaundice is very common and treatable, it's not something you expect to deal with the first week of your baby's life. Feed her lots and lots so she will poop a lot. That's how they have to clear it out. Hang in there!
I totallly understand< Nathan asperayed merconium and had to stay in the special care nursery for a week after I was discharged. I had to convince myself everday that he was better off in the hospital getting the care he needed. But it didn't make it any easier.
T&Ps coming your way! Our LO had jaundice too... we had to bring him to the hospital every day to get his bilirubin levels checked and I always got so anxious waiting for the results. They finally went down. Hopefully you will get some good news, too!!
