You can find the glossary with all the abbreviations under "my boards" in the left side bar. HTH (Hope this helps)!

  • I agree. I have never seen so many abbreviations for words that do not need them! The glossary is definitely a tool to utilize.

  • yes ! defiantly! i just dont see the point...but i will be using the glossary! thanks!
  • I'm so glad you asked this because I had no clue about some of the stuff I was reading - so thanks!!

  • Personally I think it's silly to put DH instead of my husband.  It only takes a second to type it out.  Maybe it's just me.

  • Mostly the abbreviations are used for words that you use over and over again. And I honestly prefer to type EWCM instead of egg white cervical mucus and CP instead of cervical position, for example. It does save time if you are an active poster.

  • don't worry- you'll catch on quickly enough. The glossary is a good tool for newbies though.
  • i agree totally. I may use the abb to read other posts, but im sure not using it myself.
  • Haha yea...there's enough for us to keep straight as it is!! I thought I was up to date on my computer lingo, guess mommy computer lingo is a little different!!

  • my thoughts EXACTLY! same with DD... why not just say "my daughter?"

    don't see the purpose...

  • I am so glad I am not the only one thinking it's silly. It takes seconds to write out the things they are abbreviating.

  • I somewhat agree on the DH, DD, DS thing, and I definitely thought the abbreviations were overwhelming and a little silly when I first started.  However, I can see the value in them now.  As Ricola pointed out, it does save time if you post alot, and it actually helps you to read messages faster once you are used to the system.

You'll say "I'll never use those abbreviations" but I'll bet one or two will sneak in before you know it!

Especially referring to medical and technical stuff (and especially on the Trying To Get Pregnant board), the abbreviations come in very handy.  I do not want to read "egg white cervical mucus" or "positive pregnancy test" over and over.  I did catch myself using TheBump abbreviations while I was chatting with a close friend recently, and she was utterly confused!  She said, "Wait... what is a BFP?"  In my mind, I thought I'd typed it out, but I hadn't.
