I have a BS in Human Development and a Masters in School Counseling. I have yet to find a job as a school counselor and some days I could just kick myself for spending all that money to get my Masters. I hate writing out my student loan checks! And with the way they are cutting positions in NY right now, it's likely that I may never get a job in my field.
I'm still in a counseling position, just working with developmentally disabled adults instead of high school students. So I guess it wasn't a total waste.

Nope!
BA in English/Secondary Ed. from Univ. of Illinois Champaign/Urbana
MA in Educational Policy Studies from U of I also
After a few years as a high school English teacher, now I work for myself in a completely unrelated field. But I would never consider my time at school a waste. I loved going and wish I could keep going. I also met my husband in college. And it's shaped who I am today.
I am always interested in the responses to this topic...
Like you OP, I also have my masters in School Counseling in the state of NY. I also have yet to find a position in our field and don't have much hope for the near future. Luckily I was able to find something similar (I do high school college/career counseling for a local university and am actually stationed in a local high school to do so), but still no official SC title.
At this point I am seriously considering becoming a SAHM, because I am just so frustrated with everything career related.
Thanks for reminding me....
No, I don't. I have two separate bachelor's degrees -- a BS in Sport Science (Exercise Physiology) and a BS in Nursing. I started my first nursing job at 32 weeks pregnant and resigned to SAH after DS was born. I was planning on going back to work after we move in May, but then I got my BFP....so it'll probably be this time next year that I finally go back to work.
Yep- BA in English, MA in Education, and I'm an English teacher, so there you go.
If I had time, I'd like to get a degree (or two) in some different fields like anthropology, maybe art, or science. What can I say, I like school.
This!
I have a BS in biology and had intentions of going to med school. Once I started working in the medical field as an undergrad- I hated it!
So now I'm a financial aid couselor (I know you hate me by association) just to pay bills... for now.
This exactly.
Yes, BS Accounting and MBA Accounting Emphasis = auditor.
I use my law degree and my business/finance degree in my current position. I really feel like I'm getting my money's worth!
Bachelor's in Accounting - Yes I use. I had a minor in Mathematics that was a couple credits away from a double major - Use whenever I teach college algebra PT.
Masters in Business Admin - Eh. I guess I sort of use. I am an accountant for a hospital. Our CFO has one. It sounded like a good idea at the time.
